VAFA Media Live Coverage – Saturday, May 16
Round 5 of live VAFA Media action delivers you three William Buck Premier Men’s matches, a Holmesglen Under 19 Premier game, and one of the greatest showmen in AFL history!!
This Sunday (June 27) will see the VAFA host all U19 Premier teams at Elsternwick Park as a celebration of VAFA U19 football.
The proposal stemmed from the U19 Advisory Group who have suggested showcasing the future of the VAFA at one venue, allowing the Premier U19 teams to be supported by all members of their respective clubs.
VAFA U19 football continues to flourish and is the life blood of our competition. In 1981 there were (3) divisions with (31) U19 teams, representing 30 clubs, twenty years later in 2001 there were (4) divisions with (42) U19 teams, representing (39) Clubs and in 2021 we proudly have (5) divisions, with (52) U19 teams representing (39) clubs across our competition.
An interesting statistic is that of the (52) U19 teams fielded in 2021, of the (30) Premier Clubs (26) of are represented with U19 teams and of our (36) Divisional Clubs (26) have an U19 team – clearly highlighting the importance of fielding U19 teams by way of assisting in club sustainability.
We would like to acknowledge our Major Partner Holmesglen Institute who continue to support and assist in the further development of VAFA U19 football, a most important element of the future sustainability of our clubs.
Special thanks to the foresight of the U19 Advisory Group and in particular Matt Collister (VAFA Football Operations Manager) and the whole Football & Umpiring department for their implementation of an exciting new initiative for the VAFA.
If you are free this Sunday, pop on down to Elsternwick Park to see the best of VAFA U19 football on show.
