Semi Final 1 – Glen Eira vs Oakleigh
After another brief hiatus from our beloved VAFA footy, finals are officially upon us and boy oh boy are we excited to be back. The Gryphons will be hosting the Krushers at Packer Park to kick off the fist semi-final match up in Division 3. Glen Eira will surely hold confidence in their impressive Round 10 triumph, opening the first term with a 17-point break and maintaining their offensive dominance through to the final siren. With forward star Maddy Lister on the hunt for another BOG performance and Georgia Clair (12) looking to boost her already impressive goal tally, Glen Eira will be a force to be reckoned with and provide a blockbuster start to the long-awaited finals campaign. With only five wins under their belt and a considerably lower percentage, Oakleigh will have to focus on converting their defensive efforts into increased scoreboard pressure should they hope to break the Gryphons this time around.
Semi Final 2 – Hampton Rovers vs AJAX
After just missing out on finals victory in 2019, there’s no doubt the Rovers will be heading into this finals series with a point to prove as they look to hold authority in their section. If history is anything to go by, forward guns Maegan Miller and Stephanie Peacock will be an unstoppable force as the Rovers aim to secure their shot at finals redemption. Scoring prowess has evidently been top notch in both teams with Miller (11 goals) sure to add a few majors to her list, however, the Rovers will need to keep an eye on AJAX’s Lindi Nankin (16 goals) who currently holds silver in the divisional scorer leaderboard. The Jackas remain the only club to break Hampton’s impenetrable winning streak, pulling through victorious the last time these two took to Lindsay Hassett Oval back in Round 7. Despite boasting a higher percentage throughout the season, AJAX will have to front up in top form in order to streamline their path to premiership position.
