Canterbury FC has added to both its on-field and off-field stocks with the appointment of Nathan Walsh as senior men’s playing coach for the 2022 season.
Walsh was previously an assistant at the club in 2020 before joining Dalyston FNC as a playing-assistant this year.
In an announcement on social media, the club said Walsh will bring a range of experience and professionalism to the Division 3 club.
“He has previously played a large portion of his career representing Rowville Football Club, playing in a grand final in the 2014 EFL Premier reserves before moving to Boronia and playing in senior finals as well,” the statement read.
“Walshy also enjoyed successful stints with Forrest Hill and Yarra Junction FC, playing senior football with both clubs.
“Nathan can play a variety of roles on the field whether it’s down back or around the ball. He has great skill and pace and will be a vital acquisition for Canterbury for our quest in 2022.”
Away from the football field, Walsh has played premier cricket for Ringwood and Fitzroy Doncaster.
Canterbury won four of 11 games in a truncated 2021 season.
Despite only joining the VAFA in 2014, the club celebrated its 140th birthday this year.
