The Eley Park Football Club has announced the appointment of Matt Embling as its new Senior Coach.
Set to take the reins of the Division 4 club in 2022, Matt arrives at the Sharks with an extensive coaching resume spanning 20 years, including stints with Rockbank/Western Rams, VAFA clubs Glen Eira (Div1/2), Old Trinity (Premier) and University Blues (Premier U19s).
He has also spent four years as assistant coach at VFL club Sandringham and more recently, been involved with Collingwood’s AFLW team and St Kilda in the AFL.
With a diverse range of high-level experience, incoming coach, Matt Embling is thrilled to join the Sharks and return to the VAFA.
“I am excited to be joining Eley Park this year with the hope of getting a full season in and enjoying the many great elements of being involved in amateur football,” said Matt.
“It’s great to be coaching back in the VAFA and I am looking forward to all of the challenges that lie ahead and working with the Sharks players, committee and the community of the Eley Park Football Club throughout 2022,” concluded Matt.
President of the Eley Park Football Club, Daniel Smith was delighted to have Matt join the club for the 2022 season.
“Matt is a great fit for the Eley Park Football Club and has a clear commitment to developing players of all ages and abilities both as footballers and as people,” said Daniel.
The Eley Park Football Club was established in 1992 by a group of close friends wanting to play grassroots football for the love of the game.
With a new coach and revitalised committee, the Sharks are keen to welcome anyone who wants to have a kick and enjoy the social elements and friendships that come from joining a community-based club, with the Sharks based at Whitehorse Reserve in Box Hill.
