VAFA Board Expressions of Interest

By VAFA Media · May 19, 2022
VAFA Board Expressions of Interest

The Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) is seeking expressions of interest for the position of board member to fill two vacancies on its board.

Founded in 1892, the VAFA is the oldest and largest metropolitan community football competition in Melbourne. It is the premier home of Amateur Football in Australia and within our competition all players play for the love of the game.  A highly diverse and inclusive organisation, the competition encompasses 71 clubs fielding more than 310 teams with 8500 men’s and 2700 women’s players across 35 sections.

The VAFA successfully manages the single largest senior community football competition in Australia, across men’s & women’s competitions, with over 350 registered umpires.  The VAFA proudly has a family-friendly, welcoming, transparent & purposeful culture.

Having successfully managed our way through (2) COVID affected seasons, the competition, under the Board and Administration, continues to thrive and strive for excellence on and off the field.

The VAFA Board and Administration are on the cusp of several exciting announcements and initiatives, as well as the preparations for the strategic plan for 2022-2024 are underway as the board and administration plan for another exciting phase of the VAFA.

The Board is seeking considerate, insightful and open-minded individuals who have experience and an understanding of community sporting organisations, complemented by a strong business background.

Your interest and expertise may be in any of the following areas; AFL, AFLW, governance of community sport, women’s sport, media, HR, marketing, digital technology, business innovation, strategic planning, legal, finance and risk, and your skills will complement those of current board members.

Please address your confidential expression of interest, containing a covering letter and resume to the VAFA Board Sub-Committee Chairman, Ivan Delac. Email: [email protected]. Nominations close Wednesday 1st of June, 2022.

All who show an expression of interest will be contacted by a member of the VAFA Board Sub-Committee.   Your application will then be considered in line with the current Board Skills Matrix and if deemed appropriate, an interview will be arranged.  It is requested that candidates be available for interview across the first half of June, 2022.

For any further enquires or discussion items, please don’t hesitate to contact Ivan via email: [email protected]
