Third time’s a charm! For the Love of the Game’s Round 3 Review
Join Joey Pignataro & Paddy Grindlay as they take an in-depth look at Round 3 of VAFA action. (Jase didn’t make it through the Easter break unscathed. Soft.) Plus, #BIGBAGS
The halfway point of the season is upon us. A Grand Final replay, a top four clash in Premier B, another top four battle in Premier C. There’s a bayside rivalry and plenty more on the agenda that make up your weekend viewing of VAFA football!
University Blues claimed the 2019 A-Section Premiership over St Kevin’s by 40 points. It was the last time a VAFA Grand Final was played, and it was the last time these two sides have met.
In Round 9, with both sides in the top 4, they come face-to-face again at T H King Oval. Former coach of St Kevin’s Guy Martyn is now dressed in blue and black coming up against his old side for the first time since the Grand Final.
Join Joe Pignataro and Josh Heriot for the Saturday warm-up where they’ll speak exclusively with Guy Martyn before the first bounce at 2pm.

The VAFA’s Live-Stream match pins third placed Old Haileybury against fourth placed Ajax in Premier B. With more than just four points on the line, this is a game not to be missed.
The Jackers have put together a strong month with 3 wins from their last 4 matches, while for Old Haileybury they were back on the winners list in round 8 after 3 straight losses.
Don’t miss a moment of the action with Mitch Dyer leading the team along with Liam Ellison from 1.40pm as they bring you all the action from Gary Smorgon Oval.
You can stream the action live right here on the VAFA website and on the VAFA Facebook page.
The battle bayside between Beaumaris vs. St Bede’s Mentone in Premier B is one for the ages. Guy McKenna’s sharks will be snapping at the heels of the Tigers as Bedes try to right the wrongs of the last month. Beaumaris won’t want to let this opportunity slip from their grasp.
In Premier C, the ladder might show Hampton Rovers at the top, and then daylight, but the chasing pack isn’t going away in a hurry. Mazenod and Old Ivanhoe are two sides right on the heels of the Rovers, and at 2pm, they’ll clash with the winner to take up residence in third spot on the ladder.
Both of these games will be streamed live and accessible through the My Sport Live channel and App.
