The VAFA is excited to announce a new working partnership with Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV).
The partnership will see RAV deliver education and support to VAFA clubs through its ‘Healthy Clubs, Healthy Relationships’ program. The program will see RAV work with VAFA clubs until the middle of the 2024 season.
The program was created through Sport and Recreation Victoria’s, Preventing Violence through Sport grant. The grant’s objective is to influence positive behaviours and attitudes and prevent all forms of violence against women by supporting organisations to design and deliver primary prevention activity within community sport settings.
The main objective of the ‘Healthy Clubs, Healthy Relationships’ program is to provide VAFA clubs with a suite of options to promote gender equality throughout clubs and the wider association. To do this, RAV will be delivering two education pieces, a series of ‘Healthy Relationship’ workshops and the development and implementation of ‘Gender Equity Action Plans’ at clubs.
The Healthy Relationships workshops will focus on key issues such as gender roles, building healthy and respectful relationships, raising awareness of domestic and family violence, and bystander actions along with the importance of inclusion. The Gender Equity Action Plans will be supported by gender equity experts working in the field with the aim of delivering gender equity outcomes needed to affect positive change within VAFA clubs.
The program delivery will roll out to VAFA clubs early in 2023 and will provide clubs an opportunity to consult on the content design at the end of 2022. If you have any questions about the new relationship with RAV, the project consultation or anything else related to this announcement please reach out to VAFA Clubs & Community Manager, Sean Walker – [email protected].
