The VAFA congratulates young gun Simone Mooney from Fitzroy who has been nominated as the Round 6 Rising Star. Simone has featured in the best players every week in her debut season for the Roys.

“Simone has been amazing this year for the senior club,” says coach Nathan Jumeau. “From her very first game since stepping up from the Fitzroy Juniors’ Youth Girls team, Simone has played a massive role in the midfield, also finding the goals with pleasing regularity.
“With quiet determination, Simone’s single-minded aim is to get better as a footballer and as a teammate at training and in games and has impressed everyone at the Roys.
“Simone is a pleasure to coach, and we look forward watching what’s bound to be a long and brilliant career.”
