Tackle Your Feelings Round is fast approaching and will be held on the weekend of June 23- June 25. Tackle Your Feelings has been a community partner of the VAFA since 2020 with the partnership looking to grow over the upcoming seasons. The Tackle Your Feelings program is a FREE mental health training program for community football clubs with over half of all VAFA clubs now being involved in a workshop over the past 3 seasons.
The purpose of the Tackle Your Feelings Round is to highlight the program to the broader VAFA community and continue to have clubs engage in the Tackle Your Feelings program to help people within VAFA clubs to Understand, Recognise and Respond to signs of ill mental health.
In the lead up to TYF Round, Tackle Your Feelings Ambassador, Alex Johnson, visited UHS VU Vultures as part of a workshop delivered this week. During the workshop Alex shared his journey through the AFL system and his time with the Sydney Swans which saw him suffer 5 ACL injuries and subsequent knee reconstructions and how this impacted on his mental health. Alex also shares his story in the video below.
Over Tackle Your Feelings Round the VAFA will be sharing the Tackle Your Feelings message and asking clubs who haven’t engaged in a Tackle Your Feelings workshop previously to consider doing so. VAFA clubs are also encouraged to consider coordinating a workshop for their playing groups, which is a new option for VAFA clubs in 2023.
