Ahead of the return of VAFA representative football returning, the VAFA is pleased to announce the umpires that have been selected to represent the competition in both the Senior Men’s and Senior Women’s games at Elsternwick Park on Saturday.
The Senior Women’s contest will kick off the day at 11:00 AM, the field umpires will be Adrian Damen (VAFA), Josh Hamilton (VAFA) and Amy Markusic (Perth Football League).
Running the boundary will be Fikirye Sukru, Jess Styan, Julia Stokes and Rebekah Street. Selected as goal umpires Darcy Higgins and Katie Gillespie.
Damen was the VAFA’s emergency on-field umpire for the 2022 William Buck Premier Grand Final, whilst Kate Gillespie waved the flags for the 2022 Premier B Reserves Grand Final.
The Senior Men’s game will take to the field at 2:00 PM, selected to officiate the contest are Adam Bailes and Daniel Silfo from the VAFA; with Matt Carpenter from the Perth Football League.
Silfo has taken his umpiring from strength-to-strength after being awarded the VAFA’s 2021 umpire of the year honour, and given the role of officiating the 2022 William Buck Premier Grand Final.
Aiden McDonald, Finn Horan, Mitch Bellingham and Nick Obst will be running the boundary whilst Peter Kotsaridis and Tim Wood will be waving the flags as the goal umpires.
Nick Obst and Peter Kotsaridis both officiated last year’s William Buck Premier Grand Final, Aiden McDonald was present on Premier B Grand Final day.
VAFA Umpire Operations Manager, Stephen Privitera congratulated the 18 umpires that have been chosen to officiate this weekend’s matches, “Being selected to umpire in the Big V Representative games is a great honour for the appointed umpires”. he told VAFA Media.
“The best performing umpires have been selected to represent the VAFA on the biggest stage.” he continued.
The VAFA and Perth FL wish all appointed umpires the best for their respective games.
