June Volunteer and Coach of the Month awards

By Susan Miller · July 20, 2023
June Volunteer and Coach of the Month awards

In June a large number of nominations were received for Australian Venue Co. Volunteer of the Month and Carruthers Executive Coach of the Month awards with winners representing a core VAFA Value – Respect.

Respect – To always show respect to every person that we interact with, and in turn, to earn the respect of others for all that we do.

Congratulations to Warren Fall from Melbourne High School Old Boys for being named Australian Venue Co. Volunteer of the Month.

Warren was nominated by club secretary Kylie da Fonte, who shared with us that there are not many roles Warren hasn’t covered over the past 30 years.

“Warren has dedicated a significantly large part of his life to both the school and MHSOBFC. He is a greatly respected teacher, coach, mentor & President in the Melbourne High community. The respect he has at the school has led to many students over the years and many more recently to follow him down the steps and across the Oval to MHSOBFC due to his involvement in the Old Boys Association, this being key to our Under 19s continued growth.”

Congratulations to Thomas Ingham from Old Xaverians FC for being named Carruthers Executive Coach of the Month.

Thomas was nominated by James Woods, Old Xaverians FC General Manager.

James shared that “Tom does an incredible job of managing our Under 23 program, which consists of the Premier Thirds and Thirds Division 4 sides. With a group of around 80 players, and only a couple of helpers, Tom is able to effectively communicate key standards and behaviours into our young players transitioning into senior football. One of which is respect to all – which as a club is a key focus. In his capacity, Tom is aware of all challenges teams face with selection, and respects all coaches’ decisions, working on solutions to make sure as many boys as possible get a game of football.”

Nominations for July Australian Venue Co. Volunteer of the Month and Carruthers Executive Coach of the Month awards are now open, with a focus on VAFA value – Integrity.

Integrity – Govern the VAFA in accordance with member approved Rules and Regulations that progress and grow the VAFA while preserving its traditional elements.

Apply below before Monday, 31 July 2023 at 5:00pm.
