Dear Member Clubs, Life Members, Stakeholders and the Umpires Association,
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the very best for the festive season. I hope you enjoy a happy and safe time with family and friends.
It certainly has been a challenging year on many fronts, and you all deserve quality time away to rest and recuperate.
To that end on behalf of the Board and Management of the VAFA we are indebted to your support, loyalty and trust. The 2023 year has certainly had many highlights and yes some low lights as well. There is much to take in, learn from and grow stronger.
Credit must go to our CEO, Jason Reddick, and his administration. Under Jason’s direction they have done a mighty job delivering a wonderful football season, often in challenging conditions.
At a personal level I want to express my sincere appreciation for the trust you instilled in me at the recent AGM enabling me to secure a 3 year term on the Board which culminated in being elected your President. I am excited by the challenges and look forward to working with you all to ensure we build on 2023 and make 2024 another memorable year.
Some news you may be interested to know, we will be calling on Expressions of Interest for 3 VAFA Board roles that are currently vacant. These vacancies will provide the successful applicants with a seat on the Board and the opportunity to drive the Association and its strategic plan. The vacancies once filled will provide the Board with exciting new appointments, fresh ideas, and further energy. We will be calling for Expressions mid-January across our social media platforms so please pass this on to any of your acquaintances who may be interested.
In closing wishing you all a Merry Christmas and happy New Year.
Kindest regards,
Paul Newton
