The VAFA is mourning the passing of Life Member Ken Petrucco, who passed away on Wednesday.
Ken was instrumental in leading Inner FM’s coverage of the VAFA over almost 20 years, calling in excess of 500 matches, together with 450 episodes of the VAFA Footy Show on Inner FM every Saturday morning.
Ken was inducted as a Life Member of the VAFA in 2018. You can watch his acceptance speech on Facebook here. He was also the second ever president of Inner FM from 2004 until 2018.
At the 2023 VAFA Season Launch, the Inner FM team led by Ken, all received a Certificate of Acknowledgement for bringing the passion, enthusiasm and colour of a matchday broadcast to the VAFA over many years.
Ken had been a dedicated supporter of our Association since his playing days at Parkside, and called his 500th VAFA game on 96.5 Inner FM in 2018, between Old Trinity & Collegians at the Daley Oval.
Ken passed away on the morning of Wednesday 3rd January 2024, surrounded by family at the Olivia Newton John Cancer Centre at the Austin Hospital.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Crick Chapel at the Fawkner Memorial Park (view map) at 1pm on Monday 8th January, with the wake following at the Fawkner RSL from 2-4pm. The service will also be streamed online for those unable to make it.
