VAFA footy is officially back for 2026 with old rivalries, big performances and next-level highlights. Newly minted skipper and 2025 MacInnes Medallist Mia Cowan was up to her usual tricks,
The VAFA congratulates Dylan Pleban from PEGS FC, who has received the Anytime Fitness Rising Star nomination for Round 5. After earning a spot in the Senior side this season, Dylan has impressed with his clean hands and work around the contest, floating between the wing and midfield, with numerous performances earning him a spot in the best.
What the club said:
Dylan is a PEGS boy and one of our Under 19’s players who have debuted this year. Since debuting he hasn’t looked out of place. We didn’t do any favours in promoting Dylan to the senior team, it was entirely well-deserved. Surgery over summer limited his pre-season but his resilience to get back in the gym and do what he could has resulted in him building strength that has supported an adjustment to senior footy. Dylan started on the wing for us but we have gradually been seeding him through the midfield.
Whilst we want to win every game like every other club, it is also our responsibility to promote and develop our young guns like Dylan, who won our Under 19’s Best and Fairest last year. Dylans best football qualities are his clean hands, his toughness at the ball and being a great teammate but more importantly, Dylan is a great PEGS kid who is always motivated to get better and make the club better.
