2024 Big V Luncheon to launch Representative Football weekend

Experience the Victorian Amateur Football Association at its finest with the upcoming Big V Luncheon at the renowned RACV Club on Friday, July 5.

The luncheon precedes a big weekend of VAFA Representative Football, where the Big V Premier B – Division 3 team faces off against the Bendigo Football Netball League at Elsternwick Park on Saturday 6 July, before the Big V Senior Men’s and Women’s teams travel to play Perth Football League on Sunday 7 July.

The annual event promises an unforgettable luncheon filled with celebration, recognition, and a tribute to some of the most influential figures the Big V has seen. We invite the wider VAFA community to be part of it.

Prepare to be captivated as the VAFA honours the remarkable careers of Big V Champions Micah Berry from Old Melburnians, and Andy Cultrera from Aquinas and Old Trinity. Plus, Nick Bourke being recognised as a Big V Legend, in recognition of his outstanding coaching record.

This year will also see the awarding of VAFA Life Membership to Kylie Da Fonte (MHSOB), marking 20 years of service to the Association as a trainer for Big V teams.

The Big V Luncheon is a gathering that encapsulates the rich history and traditions of the VAFA. It is a unique opportunity to connect with the past while embracing the present, held at the esteemed RACV City Club in the Melbourne CBD.

TICKET SALES HAVE NOW CLOSED FOR THE EVENT

The event will be graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including past and present players, coaches, and administrators. The atmosphere will be abuzz with excitement and camaraderie as football enthusiasts from all walks of life gather to pay homage to these exceptional individuals.

To complement the festivities, the Big V Luncheon will feature the announcement of the 66 men and women selected to don the Big V guernsey in 2024; to face off against Perth and Bendigo that weekend, writing the next chapter in Big V history.

Right throughout the afternoon there’ll be tales of triumph and camaraderie from previous Big V representatives reminiscing about their time on the field.

These inspirational stories will provide a rare glimpse into the heart and soul of the VAFA, reaffirming its place as one of the most prestigious honours in our competition.

Immerse yourself in the heritage and passion of representative football, as the VAFA pays tribute to the extraordinary careers of Micah Berry and Andy Cultrera and honours Nick Bourke’s elevation to Big V Legend.

The Big V Lunch at the RACV Club on Friday, July 5, promises to be another great event that celebrates the very essence of our beloved Association. The VAFA welcomes you to join us – don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to be a part of history.
