VAFA Media’s Round 14 live coverage features two William Buck Premier Men’s clashes and a William Buck Premier Women’s clash all pivotal to finals races.

This week’s SEN VAFA Match of the Day sees Old Scotch host Old Brighton in a 1st vs 3rd blockbuster at Camberwell.

The third-placed Cardinals arrive on a 6-game winning streak with a one-game gap on Old Xavs. Having fallen to Old Brighton & St Kevin’s the first time around, they now test their progress again over the next two weeks in a critical fortnight for their finals hopes.

Old Brighton have swept (just about) all before them so far in 2024, with their one loss coming to St Kevin’s by 2 points in Round 8. The winning margin in their 12 victories this season sits at an impressive 33 points as they head into a final stretch that will see them face all of the other Top 5 teams in the run home.

Another critical William Buck Premier Men’s match will be live on VAFA.com.au as Old Xaverians look to just about shut the door on University Blues’ finals hopes.

Xavs have won their last 3, while Blues have lost their last 4 (including the last 3 to the Top 3 teams). Now they test themselves against the 4th ranked team in a must-win game.

Xavs have opened up a one-game buffer over Collegians in the race for fourth, but a stumble here could ultimately prove very costly indeed.

This weeks KommunityTV live-stream double-header will impact the finals & relegation races in William Buck Premier Women’s as Caulfield Grammarians host Melbourne University at Glen Huntly Park.

Caulfield are clinging to fourth spot by just half-a-game over Collegians & West Brunswick after impressive back-to-back wins over the Lions and Old Yarra Cobras. In fact, the Fields have won 4 of their last 5 to build some genuine momentum that they will be determined to keep rolling.

But Melbourne University have plenty to play for as well as they fight to remain in Premier Women’s. The Mugs sit half-a-game behind Coburg & Old Yarra, so a win here could see them rise out of the drop zone. Having faced the Top 2 teams in the last two weeks, they will be battle-hardened and determined to show they belong at this level.

Their earlier meeting in Round 7 ended in a thrilling draw after the Fields fought back from being a couple of goals down at half time. Are we in for another thriller? Let’s hope so!
