The VAFA received nominations showcasing inspiring stories of how these individuals make a positive impact through their volunteer work or coaching roles within their clubs.
Congratulations to Alysia Regan from Mentone Panthers Football Club for being named The Pass Volunteer of the Month.
Alysia was nominated by John Thompson (President) of Mentone Panthers Football Club.
“Alysia has been passively and actively involved in the Old Mentonians FC and Mentone Panthers FC for the past 15 years. Performing roles on the committee and social committee for the Old Mentonians and is the current GM at Mentone Panthers FC.
The GM role at MPFC is a volunteer role. Alysia has played an integral role in the re-build of the Mentone Panthers FC. Alysia has excelled with her ability to organise and facilitate and generally ‘get the job done’ in a very turbulent and unprecedented time for the Mentone Panthers FC. As GM, Alysia performs many administrative roles, communicating with external stakeholders, ordering supplies and equipment in her own time. Alysia also shows her invest in the club by developing and taking ownership of her own ideas. Alysia goes above and beyond by supplying the players with various hot food after training and running our match day shop and canteen. Alysia has put her heart and soul into the rebuild of the football club and has never backed down from a challenge. I nominate Alysia because she epitomises the definition of a volunteer and more. Her dedication and efforts I believe should be recognized.”
Congratulations to Ellen Buckley from Old Yarra Cobras Football Club for being named Carruthers Executive Coach of the Month.
Ellen Buckley was nominated by Penny Cula- Reid (player) and Andrew Barling (club volunteer) from Old Yarra Cobras Football Club.
“Ellen (Bucks) Buckley, started to dabble in coaching last year however has taken a more official role as Midfield coach this yr. She continues to play and coach on game day. She has taken our trainings to another level with her detailed session plans, she continues to build in “cobs connection” introducing Top Cob – voted by selected players on the best trainer for the week. She continues to support the head coach with ideas with contest work and how to get the best out of the players she has in her line. She continues to build relationships with players including the VFLW listed players to ensure a smooth transition into our club. We have seen an influx of players purely due to her influence of high standards and the way she coaches and speaks about the club. Initiated Pride Cup education session.”
“Ellen is well entrenched in the Old Yarra Cobras and brings coaches and players together on and off the field with her ideas, words, and genuine personality. Ellen is appropriate coach too nominate for this COTM.”
