VAFA Live Coverage: August 31-Sept 1

VAFA Live Coverage: August 31-Sept 1

VAFA Media’s live coverage this weekend features two critical Premier Men’s match-ups on Saturday and our two Holmesglen U19 Premier Semi Finals on Sunday.

This week’s SEN VAFA Match of the Day is pivotal to the relegation race as Fitzroy host University Blacks at Brunswick Street Oval.

The Roys are coming off back-to-back top-flight wins for the first time in club history, after accounting for OMs by 3 points and Uni Blues by 15 to breathe life back into their prospects of staying up in Premier Men’s.

Like the Roys, Uni Blacks have found some form when they needed it most, turning a 5-game mid-season losing streak into three consecutive wins that have almost guided them to safety.

It’s a massive game in the context of relegation – if the Roys win, they could potentially join the Snowdogs on 5 wins and set up a thrilling final round. If Blacks win, they will be guaranteed safe passage back to Premier Men’s next season.

Tune into our LIVE coverage from 1:45pm Saturday through the SENApp, SEN.com.au and VAFA.com.au, hosted by VAFA Media’s Paddy Grindlay, featuring interviews with the coaches & players and exclusive access into the quarter-break huddles.

And if you’re heading to the ground, take your earbuds or headphones and enjoy our VAFA SEN STADIUM real-time radio coverage while you’re watching the game!

The SEN App is available for iPhone and Android, and works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

This week we have TWO KommunityTV live-stream double-headers!

The first features a Top 4 Premier Men’s blockbuster as Old Brighton host Old Xaverians at Brighton Beach Oval on Saturday.

The Tonners can wrap up the Premier Men’s minor premiership, while the stakes are even higher for Old Xavs, who are in a desperate struggle with Collegians for fourth spot & a finals berth.

Xavs had the chance to re-establish their one-game advantage over the Lions last week, but stumbled against Uni Blacks and must now run the gauntlet against the Top 2 teams in the final fortnight. They currently lead Collegians by 6.39% but that percentage could swing rapidly should they suffer a heavy loss or the Lions enjoy a big win.

Old Brighton are priming themselves for a September tilt. Having won 7 of their past 8, they have bounced back strongly from their 25-point loss to Old Scotch in Round 14 to dominate St Bernard’s & Collegians.

They will be keen to continue their momentum with strong performances against two potential challengers in Old Xavs this week and then St Kevin’s in the final round next week.

All eyes will be on Xavs. Can they rediscover their best & take a huge step towards the finals? Or will the Tonners assert their dominance at home once again. It promises to be a revealing afternoon at Brighton!

Catch the action LIVE and EXCLUSIVE on KommunityTV, with Reserves coverage from 11.35am Saturday, followed by the Seniors game from 2pm.

Our second KommunityTV double-header features the kick-off of the 2024 Holmesglen Under 19 Premier finals series with two Semi Finals at Box Hill City Oval on Sunday.

The cut-throat 1st SEMI FINAL pits 3rd ranked Old Scotch against 4th ranked University Blues for a ticket to the Preliminary Final. These two teams met twice during the season, with Blues winning both (by 10pts in Round 8 & then a thumping 57pt win in Round 15).

Can the young Cardinals turn that around & keep their season alive? Join our live stream coverage from 9.15am Sunday morning.

Then immediately after we bring you the 2nd SEMI FINAL between the top 2 teams of the home & away season as Old Brighton host St Kevin’s. The Tonners finished 2 games clear on top of the ladder with a 15-3 record and the difference was the two wins they had over SKOB (44pts in Round 2 & 26pts in Round 11).

Old Brighton enter on a 5-game winning streak, while St Kevin’s have won 7 straight since that Round 11 disappointment to the Tonners.

Who will progress straight through to Grand Final Day? Find out from 11.35am Sunday on Kommunity TV.

A News Corp subscription is required to watch the live stream on KommunityTV – sign up from just $5 per week.

Additionally this weekend, all Grand Finals will be available to be watched on-demand on VAFATV.
