VAFA Live Coverage: September 7-8

By Jason Bennett · September 6, 2024
VAFA Live Coverage: September 7-8

It’s a massive weekend of live VAFA Media coverage across Premier Men’s, Premier Women’s and U19 Premier, with plenty of high-stakes action to enjoy Saturday and Sunday. Tune into seven matches live! See all the details…

SATURDAY

This week’s SEN VAFA Match of the Day could decide the relegation race as St Bernard’s host Old Melburnians at the Snake Pit.

The Snowdogs are level on points with Fitzroy but hold a 14% advantage. So if they can take care of business against OMs, they should be safe to remain in Premier Men’s next season.

However, this will be OMs coach Paul Satterley’s final game in charge and his team will be determined to farewell him on a high note as they head down to Premier B in 2025.

Should the Roys be travelling well against Collegians and the margin be tight at St Bernard’s, the Snowdogs faithful could be in for a very nervous afternoon!

Tune in for our LIVE radio coverage from 1:45pm Saturday through the SEN App,  SEN.com.au  and VAFA.com.au, hosted by VAFA Media’s Paddy Grindlay, featuring interviews with the coaches & players and exclusive access into the quarter-break huddles.

And if you’re heading to the ground, take your earbuds or headphones and enjoy our VAFA SEN STADIUM real-time radio coverage while you’re watching the game!

The SEN App is available for iPhone and Android, and works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

This week we have FIVE live games for you to enjoy exclusively on KommunityTV!

The double-chance may be determined by a top-of-the-table William Buck PREMIER MEN’S blockbuster as Old Brighton host St Kevin’s at Brighton Beach Oval on Saturday.

The Tonners have wrapped up the minor premiership, but would love to gain a psychological advantage over a team they are likely to face in the finals.

While a loss for SKOB could see them slip to third should the Cardinals defeat Old Xavs. That would see them slide down into a cut-throat First Semi Final next week, so the stakes are high!

Old Brighton have won 8 of their past 9 and are building nicely into September. St Kevin’s have been up & down in recent times, but coach Anthony Lynch is confident they are almost back to their best – and their time is now.

Win this one, grab the double chance & proceed to face Old Brighton again next week knowing they’ve just beaten them on their own turf.

What a game it promises to be! Two powerhouses collide at Brighton Beach Oval in must-see TV!

Catch our double-header LIVE and EXCLUSIVE on KommunityTV, with Reserves coverage from 11.35am Saturday, followed by the Seniors game from 2pm.

Our third KommunityTV Saturday match kicks off the 2024 William Buck PREMIER WOMEN’S finals series with the cut-throat FIRST SEMI FINAL between the 3rd ranked Kew and 4th ranked Caulfield Grammarians at Box Hill City Oval.

These two teams met twice during the season, with Kew dominating their Round 2 clash by 39 points before the much-improved Fields got up by a point in a Round 16 thriller.

Since then, the Bears have bounced back with thumping wins over Collegians and Monash to enter the finals with some momentum, while the Grammarians – who will be without Kate McCarthy, who underwent season-ending wrist surgery – belted Monash and West Brunswick, in what was effectively an Elimination Final last weekend.

Which team will survive and progress to the Preliminary Final? Join our live stream coverage from 9.15am Saturday morning.

We also have some live Premier C Men’s finals action for you to enjoy on Saturday afternoon.

The top 2 teams in the competition – Old Carey & Hampton Rovers – square off in the PREMIER C SECOND SEMI FINAL with a place in the Grand Final & direct promotion to Premier B on the line.

The Rovers leapfrogged AJAX in the final round into second spot to secure the double chance in what has been an incredibly tight competition that saw both Old Carey & Hampton Rovers both finish at 16-and-2.

The Panthers arrive at Elsternwick Park on a 6-game winning streak. The last team to defeat them? Yep, Rovers back in Round 12 when they belted the ladder-leaders by 47 points – they are now on a 12 game winning streak. Old Carey won the first meeting between them this season by 12 points in Round 5 and most expect this one to be another tight see-sawing affair.

Two great teams with a huge prize on the line – tune into VAFA.com.au from 2:10pm Saturday for the big clash!

SUNDAY

We kick off our Sunday coverage with the Holmesglen U19 Premier PRELIMINARY FINAL between Old Brighton & Old Scotch at Trevor Barker Beach Oval.

The Tonners fell agonisingly short of direct progression to Grand Final Day when their kick after the siren last week against St Kevin’s failed to go through. Instead, they face a dangerous Cardinals line-up in the cut-throat Prelim to earn another shot at SKOB in the premiership decider.

Old Brighton have won 5 of their last 6, while Old Scotch have won 3 of their last 4, including their gritty 15-point First Semi Final win over Uni Blues in blustery conditions last weekend.

Who will progress to Grand Final Day? Find out from 9.15am Sunday on Kommunity TV.

Then straight after that game, we take you to Elsternwick Park for the William Buck PREMIER WOMEN’S SECOND SEMI FINAL between the two standout teams of the competition – Old Scotch & St Kevin’s.

These two teams dominated the home & away season to finish locked together at 17-1, with their only losses to each other (St Kevin’s winning by 14pts in Round 9, then Old Scotch turning the tables to win a 5-point thriller a fortnight ago in Round 17).

The winner will qualify for Grand Final Day with a huge psychological advantage, while the loser must regroup to face the winner of Kew-Caulfield Grammarians in next week’s Prelim.

Both teams are stacked with high-end talent and this promises to be another fantastic showcase of VAFA Women’s footy. Join us from 11.35am Sunday morning for all the action on Kommunity TV.

A News Corp subscription is required to watch the live stream on KommunityTV – sign up from just $5 per week.

Additionally this weekend, all Grand Finals will be available to be watched on-demand on VAFATV.
