2024 Premier B Men’s Team of the Year

By VAFA Media · October 30, 2024
2024 Premier B Men’s Team of the Year

The 2024 VAFA Premier B Men’s competition was hotly contested with a few strong established teams joined by some rapidly improving ones in the top half of the table. In the end, it was Old Haileybury and De La Salle earning promotion, with the Bloods also lifting the silverware after a stunning Grand Final performance.

Each VAFA Team of the Year is based on feedback and analysis from coaches, VAFA Media and umpires. After much discussion and debate, here are the 22 who have made the 2024 Premier B Men’s Team of the Year:

Unsurprisingly, the reigning premiers boast five representatives – Brodie Steele, Josh Gasparini, dynamic small forward Andreas Stefanakis and the Seccull brothers, Durras and Brede, who has been named as skipper.

2024 was another great season for De La Salle and they received four nominations – Adrian Indovino, Nathan Scollo, Luke Healy and Christian Algeri.

Old Trinity rose from 8th in 2023 to almost securing promotion in 2024. Their growth and development was rewarded with three representatives – Hugo McGlashan, Alex Emery and spearhead Dominic Payman – while Coach Donald McDonald was recognised for his performance in lifting OT into contention, receiving the nod as Premier B Coach of the Year.

A number of teams had dual representatives:

Old Geelong – Will Horsfall & ruck Jack Sheridan

Old Ivanhoe – Nick Riddle & League Best and Fairest Billy Murphy

Old Camberwell – Harry Laukins & James Allen

Beaumaris – Callum Heath & Big V Captain Callum Linehan

Zac Calvez flies the flag in defence for St Bedes/Mentone Tigers, while Jordon Busuttil got the nod from Williamstown CYMS.

So many great players to fit into so few spots! Well done to the selectors and congratulations to those who received the honour in 2024.
