
VAFA launches Women’s Academy Series

The VAFA sends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of umpire Brian Nunn, who has passed away at the age of 59.
A fantastic servant of the VAFA since his debut in 2000, Brian regularly doubled up on Club XVIII matches, and it’s estimated that he umpired more than 600 VAFA games, including numerous Grand Finals.
He officiated the Premier Thirds Grand Final as a boundary umpire in 2011 and umpired the Premier Men’s Reserves and VAFA women’s competition as recently as mid-2023 when health challenges forced him to step away reluctantly.
Brian’s love of umpiring and loyalty to the VAFA speaks volumes about him as a character.
“Brian was a well-respected long-term member of the VAFA Umpire family,” said VAFA Umpiring Operations Manager, Stephen Privitera.
“We’re thinking of his family and all those who had the pleasure of umpiring alongside Brian over the years.”
