The Tackle Your Feelings (TYF) program is officially underway for 2025, with the VAFA’s TYF-themed round scheduled for the weekend of April 11-13. This annual initiative continues to grow, bringing attention to the importance of mental health support for players, coaches, and volunteers within the VAFA.
On March 17, VAFA kicked off the program with the first session for La Trobe University Football Club. La Trobe Uni has committed to hosting two TYF sessions during the 2025 season. The initial session focused on the club’s coaches and decision-makers, with plans to extend the program to the entire playing base later in the season. This approach demonstrates the club’s dedication to prioritising the mental wellbeing of its members and creating a supportive environment both on and off the field.
Since 2024, the Tackle Your Feelings Program and the VAFA’s Player Assistance Program (PAP) have been integral in promoting wellbeing within the association, serving as vital resources for players & clubs.
This year again, TYF workshops will continue to focus on the mental health of players, coaches, and club volunteers. These FREE workshops are an excellent opportunity for VAFA clubs to strengthen their culture of support and safety, ensuring that mental health remains a priority throughout the season.
If your club values the mental health and wellbeing of its players, consider booking a Tackle Your Feelings workshop in 2025. These sessions are designed to provide the tools and knowledge necessary to foster a strong, supportive culture within your club.
To host a TYF workshop, please complete the expression of interest form or reach out to VAFA Club Support Manager, Pranav Menon ([email protected]).
