The VAFA is thrilled to announce that, for the first time in League history, a Women’s Academy Series will be played to provide talented youngsters with the opportunity to feature
The VAFA congratulates Piper Phelan from Beaumaris Football Club who has been nominated as the Round 2 Anytime Fitness Women’s Rising Star. After an electric start in the VAFA with two best on grounds nods and a goal a game, Piper has stood out with her dynamic presence in the midfield and ability to influence around the ground.
What the club said:
Piper is new to our club, coming from QLD, and has a stellar record as a junior winning many awards across her young career.
She has come to us from Sandy Zebras VFLW, with friends who play for Beaumaris attracting her to the club.
Piper is a strong hard-running midfielder with exquisite skills left and right, and the versatility to play all over the ground.
On being announced as the Anytime Fitness Rising Star for Rd2, Piper commented: “Obviously, it’s a great honour for me to be nominated. I’m loving my time in Victoria and enjoying the environments that both the Zebs and the Sharks provide. I’m disappointed to have been diagnosed with an AC joint injury that came out of my Round 2 match but hopefully I’ll be back in 3-4 weeks.”
