Elsternwick Park is going back to the future to celebrate 100 years of the Big V by changing its name to SPORTSCOVER ARENA for the VAFA’s double-header against Perth Football League on Saturday, July 12.
VAFA HQ was universally known as Sportscover Arena for 17 seasons from 2002 to 2018 due to a long-standing sponsorship arrangement with Sportscover, one of the world’s leading sports and leisure underwriters.
In a nod to nostalgia, Elsternwick Park will revert to its old name for the day.
“The ‘Sportscover’ name was synonymous with our VAFA headquarters at Elsternwick through their decades of support,” said VAFA Chief Executive Officer, Jason Reddick.
“It will be a wonderful day of celebrating the history of our great competition, and Sportscover has been a significant part of that history. So, it’s truly fitting that the venue for our 100th year of Big V representative football will again be named Sportscover Arena.”
Sportscover Managing Director Chris Nash is very pleased to be involved with the VAFA again.
“Amateur sport is the lifeblood of Australian society, and we are delighted to be supporting the VAFA on this momentous occasion.
“We look forward to watching the Big V battle it out with Perth at Sportscover Arena!”
