The VAFA congratulates Maddy Seebeck from Old Geelong Football Club who has been nominated as the Round 3 Anytime Fitness Women’s Rising Star. Maddy is a stalwart in defence and has impressed with her ability to disrupt the opposition’s forward progress and win contests.
What the club said:
Old Geelong’s Rising Star nominee, Maddy Seebeck, has made an immediate and lasting impact in her first year at the club. Recruited after a nudge from OGs star Milla Naylor, supported by the persistence of co-captain Celia Cody, Maddy has quickly become an integral part of the team — and a favourite around the club.
At just 20 years old, Maddy already boasts a highly decorated football resumé. She began playing in Year 7 at Ballarat Grammar, representing both her school and local club Lake Wendouree, where she won a Premiership and Best and Fairest in the same year. Her talent took her to the elite level, playing two years with the Greater Western Victoria Rebels and a further year with the Geelong Falcons in the Coates Talent League.
Despite being new to the OGs, Maddy has brought the poise and presence of a seasoned veteran. She’s become a vocal leader in the backline, guiding teammates with confidence and composure. Off the field, her relaxed nature and sharp sense of humour have endeared her to everyone around the club.
Coach Jack Crameri said: “Maddy has been a brilliant addition to our senior line up in 2025, she’s an intercepting key defender with a booming kick. She has a fantastic football brain and this is reflected through her positioning and timing to float into the contest for an intercept mark or past a stoppage for a handball receive.”
Only 3 games into her OGs career, we hope there are plenty more to come!
