Round 4 of VAFA footy was The Real Stakes Round. Here’s a look at some of the highlights from VAFA grounds in our weekend wrap.
The Real Stakes Round dedicated the weekend’s games to raise awareness of the real harm that online sports gambling can cause.
In William Buck Premier Men’s, St Bernards won away from home again. A Luke Di Lizio made a match-winning courageous mark in the final minutes to help seal the win.
At Brighton Beach Oval, it was another close encounter between Old Brighton and St Kevin’s, with the Tonners prevailing by 7 points. The combined margin in the previous five games between the two sides had been 19 points!
In William Buck Premier Women’s, Old Scotch accounted for Old Geelong by 23 points, with Maiya Stobie kicking three goals, including this one from just inside the arc.
In Holmesglen Under 19 Premier, Tom Wenzel kicked six goals to help deliver Old Scotch a 4/4, defeating Uni Blues by 9 points.
