Round 5 Anytime Fitness Men’s Rising Star: Phoenix Janover

Round 5 Anytime Fitness Men’s Rising Star: Phoenix Janover

The VAFA congratulates Phoenix Janover from AJAX Football Club who has been nominated as the Round 5 Anytime Fitness Men’s Rising Star. Phoenix is a 17 year old, currently in year 12 and a top-ager at Sandy Dragons. The up and coming young talent made his debut for AJAX Seniors on the weekend, finishing with 18 touches and slotting 3 goals from playing on the wing.

What the club said:

Phoenix Janover is a talent young midfielder / forward who is still eligible to play junior football with the Ajax junior football Club.  He has had a distinguished junior career at Ajax and has been recognised for his work ethic and leadership by being selected in the Sandringham Dragons leadership team where he has played every game to date.

Phoenix expressed an interest in playing some senior football if the opportunity arose early in the preseason to aide in his footballing development and it did not take long for Phoenix to make an impact at senior level and impress those watching his first senior game.  He finished the day contributing 3 goals and 4 x In50’s and having 6 tackles from the wing.

Ajax senior coach Lachlan Buszard stated that he was impressed with Phoenix’s thirst for the contest.

“He has great leg speed and agility and loves to tackle. He is a high pressure player and a beautiful kick of the footy.  The forwards remarked after the game that they want the ball in his hands, so that’s a pretty solid endorsement for a first game player!”
