VAFA Club Connect Club of the Month – June

By VAFA Media · July 3, 2025
VAFA Club Connect Club of the Month – June

The VAFA Club Connect Club of the Month award recognises a VAFA club who through its actions both on and off the field, best exhibits the values of the VAFA, namely Respect, Inclusive, Integrity and Community.

Mazenod OCFC has been named the VAFA Club Connect Club of the Month for June in recognition of their strong display of the VAFA’s core value of Community.

The clubs nominated by VAFA Management in June were:

Hampton Rovers

Hampton Rovers have been outstanding in their support of and collaboration with the VAFA. Their generosity in sharing access to their facilities, trainers, equipment, and coaching staff for the Big V Under 19’s training sessions throughout the month has been exceptional. This level of commitment highlights the club’s dedication to the broader football community and player development. Hampton Rovers continue to be a shining example of what it means to be a community-driven club: professional, welcoming, and aligned with VAFA values. Their ongoing support is deeply appreciated and has made a real difference this season.

University Blacks

University Blacks have been outstanding in 2025, demonstrating strong leadership both on and off the field. Their well-executed ANZAC Day service in April was a respectful and memorable tribute, reflecting the club’s values and professionalism. More recently, they supported the VAFA by hosting a valuable information-sharing forum with all University club representatives, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange across the competition. On field, their Premier Men’s team has delivered impressive results, including a notable win over previously undefeated Old Brighton. Uni Blacks continue to set a high standard, showing what a well-rounded, community-focused, and competitive VAFA club looks like. Their efforts are truly appreciated.

Mazenod

Mazenod has firmly positioned itself as one of the VAFA’s leading clubs in 2025, demonstrating excellence both on and off the field. Their proactive approach to coach education, player wellbeing, and community engagement continues to set a high standard across the competition.

The club’s active involvement in key initiatives like Toyota Good for Footy Raffle (TGFFR), Telstra Footy Country Grant (TFCG), TAC Club Rewards, Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) etc reflects their strategic mindset and commitment to financial growth. Impressively, Mazenod currently leads all VAFA clubs in funds raised through the CDS program, thanks to creative and well-executed planning.

They finished second nationally in TGFFR in 2024 and remain inside the top 10 in 2025, continuing their purposeful fundraising efforts. The club has also made strong progress in developing its women’s program, consistently engaging with the VAFA and delivering tailored coaching development sessions. With 25+ Mental Health First Aid Officers and a second Tackle Your Feelings session focused on anxiety, Mazenod’s commitment to player welfare is exemplary. Their open communication, professionalism, and collaborative spirit make them a standout leader in the VAFA community.

As recognition of their award, the Mazenod OCFC receive a $150 credit courtesy of Club Connect to restock their canteen/drinks fridge. When told about the award, club President Craig Todd said “I’m genuinely pleased that the people who are doing so much to support, strengthen and sustain the Nodders are seeing their hard work acknowledged, with the Club being recognised as the VAFA Club Connect Club of the Month. The Mazenod OCFC values of Respect, Community, Enjoyment and Leadership continue to be our focus and pave the way for everything we do, whether on the field or off the field”

If you believe your club demonstrates the values of the VAFA and would like to share the great work happening at your club, please email VAFA Club Support Manager, Pranav Menon ([email protected])
