The VAFA is gearing up to take on the Perth Football League on home soil this Saturday 12th July at Sportscover Arena, Elsternwick Park, as the VAFA celebrates 100 years of Big V representative football.
Big V Men’s coach Daniel Harford and Big V Women’s coach Paul Groves have trimmed their squads to 22 players ahead of the weekend’s clash.
Old Brighton skipper Harry Hill will again captain the Big V Men’s team, with Sam Barnett, Campbell Moorfield and Marcus Stavrou named vice captains.
The Perth Football League currently hold the silverware after their 23-point win on home soil last year.
The last time these two teams played at Elsternwick Park turned out to be one of the most memorable Big V matches in 100 years, with the first ever draw & extra time finish, which the Big V ultimately won by 19 points. Are we in for another heart-stopper this Saturday?

West Brunswick’s Taylah Watson will captain the Big V Women’s team for the first time, with Bree Doyle and Jade Wise named vice captains.
The Big V Women are a perfect 5-0 in their history, but last season’s 1-point nailbiter against Perth FL in Perth shows that the gap between the states has tightened, and we are expecting another thrilling contest this Saturday!
