More than football: Partnerships power Big V weekend

The VAFA Independent Tribunal plays a fundamental role in ensuring the VAFA competition remains safe and clean competition where offensive, violent or abusive incidents are not tolerated. The Tribunal strives to provide a fair and thorough disciplinary process for all VAFA members, clubs, players and officials.
The VAFA is currently accepting expressions of interest for football-minded Tribunal and Investigation Panel members for the 2026 season.
If you have a background in football – whether through playing, coaching or umpiring and are passionate about contributing to the VAFA community, we would love to hear from you. We aim to balance our panel with both legal and football experienced members.
Tribunal hearings are typically held on Tuesday evenings from 6:00pm onwards, either via Zoom or in person at VAFA HQ, Elsternwick Park. A yearly roster is created to support availability. Matters heard by the Tribunal may include match-day reports, video reviews and investigation outcomes.
Members of the Tribunal and Investigation Panels are appointed by the Association but operate independently of the VAFA and its Board. Please note that you must be independent to the VAFA and cannot be involved with a VAFA club or umpire in any capacity to be eligible for Tribunal or Investigation Panel roles.
To submit your expression of interest please contact Tribunal and Compliance Coordinator, Bella Freeman at [email protected] or on 03 9537 6777.
