Big V Coaching applications open

By VAFA Media · January 29, 2026
Big V Coaching applications open

With three of our four 2025 Big V head coaches taking up fantastic opportunities to further their footballing careers, applications are now open to coach the:

  • Big V Women
  • Big V Premier B-Division 3 Men’s
  • Big V Under 19s in 2026.

The Big V Women will be looking to continue their unbeaten 6-0 record when they face the Adelaide Footy League at Norwood Oval on Saturday, June 6.

The Big V Men’s Premier B-Division 3 and Under 19s teams will host the Goulburn Valley League at Elsternwick Park on Saturday, July 11.

Applications are now open for the Head Coaching role of all three teams, as well as assistant coaching roles.

Current VAFA club senior coaches are NOT eligible to apply for the two senior roles, while the Under 19s head coaching role is ideally suited to a current VAFA Under 19s club coach.

All roles are voluntary and will involve building and overseeing a program to select, prepare and coach the squad. The role will require 4-5 training sessions, which will also help trim the initial squad to the final squad.

The Head Coach will be supported by at least two Assistant Coaches, a runner and other support staff to assist with team management, talent identification and selection.

The coaching panel will be required to watch VAFA matches (both live and recorded) to scout potential players in the lead-up to squad selection, then scout opposition players in the lead-up to game day.

VAFA staff will provide the Head Coach with ongoing team management (including a High Performance Manager), communications, and match-day logistical assistance.

A history of VAFA coaching success and a working knowledge of current VAFA talent is not mandatory, but will be considered favourably.

For more information or to submit your application (clearly specifying which role you are applying for), please contact VAFA Executive Manager – Football & Projects, Martin Stillman at [email protected] & (03) 9537 6777.

Applications are to be sent via email by the close of business on Friday, February 6.
