VAFA Director Mark Hibbins advised the Board at the scheduled monthly meeting that he is stepping down from his directorship role.
Mark was first elected to the VAFA Board in January 2025 and was a member of the Football Sub-committee.
Mark came to the role after decades of service to the Collegians Football Club as a player, coach, committee member, co-President, supporter and donor.
Mark stated “I would like to thank [CEO] Jason, [Chairman] Paul and all members of the Board firstly for their welcome to the Board some 12 months ago and importantly for their understanding of my reasons for leaving early from my elected term.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on the Board and have learnt a lot about the VAFA and football in general.
“Simply my love of club and coaching has been something I could not resist.
“I wish the VAFA Board and office all the best as they complete many important projects over the next two to three years.”
President Paul Newton acknowledged Mark’s contribution to the VAFA as a Director “Whilst sadden to be saying farewell to Mark we understand his decision, it speaks volumes for his passion of Collegians and a return to his love of coaching. Mark made an invaluable contribution at Board level during his time and his vision will be missed. Regardless we wish Mark the very best”.
The Board are currently assessing nominations for the Board Appointee positions and will fill the casual vacancy left by Mark from these candidates until voted on at the next AGM.
