2026 VAFA Golf Day hits the mark

By VAFA Media · February 6, 2026
2026 VAFA Golf Day hits the mark

The golfing gods were shining on Tuesday for the second annual VAFA Golf Classic, delivering a beautiful morning at the spectacular Kingston Heath.

A full field of 92 players headed out onto the world-class Sandbelt layout to enjoy a morning of fun, laughs and way too many swings!

The course was in perfect condition and allowed for the occasional piece of golfing magic.

Jeffrey Armstrong wound up and made a sweet connection on the 18th to claim the day’s Longest Drive competition with what turned out to be “maybe the only drive I nailed all day!”

Old Scotch President Gus McQueen had his eye in on the 10th hole to claim the Nearest the Pin with an iron shot that looked to be right on target the entire way and finished about a foot from the hole, while the $10,000 BJS Insurance Brokers Hole-in-One prize ultimately went unclaimed despite a few near misses.

The ambrose competition was tight at the top, with Power House premiership captains Luke Stubbs and Ben Circosta making history by becoming the first to do the ‘VAFA Premiership/Golf Classic’ double after they joined forces with Stephen Circosta and Michael Stafford to get the job done at Kingston Heath with 53 points.

It was a tie for second place, with the HITIQ group of Earl Eddings, Andrew Hard, Chris Davis and VAFA CEO Jason Reddick sneaking in with 57 points on an 11 handicap.

They edged out the group of Jacob Kogelman, Leigh Toomey, Jai Perrett and Jack McDonald, who also finished on 57 points, with a 9 handicap.

VAFA President Paul Newton was glowing in his praise of the day.

“It’s fantastic to see the day grow in numbers from Year 1 to Year 2,” said Newton.

“Events like this are a great reminder that being involved with the VAFA does not have to be solely about footy. It’s also about building relationships and enjoying the company of others in our community.

“It was a very enjoyable morning out there with some great company and not-so-great golf!” he laughed.

“Just two years in, and the VAFA Golf Classic has already become a key annual event on our calendar. I would highly recommend signing up for 2027 once entries open, as this will continue to get bigger and better every year.”
