The Tackle Your Feelings (TYF) program has officially launched for the 2026 VAFA season, continuing as a key initiative supporting mental health and wellbeing across the competition.
With the VAFA’s dedicated TYF Round set for the weekend of May 1–3, clubs are once again uniting to highlight the importance of looking after players, coaches, and volunteers, both on and off the field.
The program kicked off on March 30 with a session at Westbourne Grammarians, followed by another fantastic turnout at Whitefriars Football Club on April 9.
Both clubs have set a strong example, embracing the program early and demonstrating a genuine commitment to prioritising the well-being of their playing groups and wider club communities. Their proactive approach reinforces the value of creating safe, supportive environments within local football.
The TYF program alongside the VAFA’s Player Assistance Program (PAP) continues to play a vital role in equipping clubs with practical tools and resources. These initiatives empower individuals to better understand mental health, support their teammates, and foster a culture where people feel comfortable seeking help when needed.
Looking ahead, there are also plans to further expand support offerings for coaches, ensuring access to resources throughout the season.

In 2026, clubs will also benefit from two new elective workshop streams: Anxiety Management and Thriving Habits. These sessions provide deeper insights and practical strategies, allowing clubs to build on their TYF journey and embed wellbeing into their everyday environment.
The TYF workshops remain free of charge and offer an invaluable opportunity for clubs to strengthen their culture and prioritise mental health in a meaningful way.
With several more clubs already locked in for sessions, momentum is building:
| Club Name | TYF Program | Status |
| Canterbury | Foundation Course | Confirmed |
| West Brunswick | Thriving Habits Elective | Confirmed |
| Mazenod OC | Thriving Habits Elective | Confirmed |
| UHS-VU | Anxiety Elective | Confirmed |
| Hawthorn | Foundation Course | Confirmed |
| University Blues | Foundation Course | Confirmed |
If your club is committed to supporting its people and creating a positive, inclusive environment, NOW is the time to get involved.
Register your interest or reach out to VAFA Club Support Manager, Pranav Menon, to bring a TYF session to your club in 2026.
