The VAFA congratulates Will Hart from Old Carey Football Club, who has been nominated as the Round 1 VAFA Men’s Rising Star.
Will joined Old Carey this season following an impressive school football career at Carey Grammar, and made an immediate impact by kicking 11 goals in Old Carey’s win over Uni Blacks in the Holmesglen U19 North Division 1 Men’s competition on the weekend.
He was the only player across the VAFA to kick double-digit goals in Round 1!
What the club said:
Will lined up at full forward for the side on Saturday, with his major role being to keep length on the field and give us a presence deep inside forward 50. Will has a terrific skill set in how he uses his body. Despite defenders playing in front and behind him, he found ways to adapt, taking multiple contested marks and getting on the end of some great work from teammates up the field.
Kicking 11 goals in a game is an incredible achievement, and it’s worthwhile taking a moment to appreciate and celebrate that. He’s had a super pre-season, training with the senior group, and it was great reward for all the hard work he has put in.
