The VAFA congratulates Luca Trevaskis from Williamstown CYMS, who has been nominated as the Round 2 VAFA Women’s Rising Star.
Luca starred on the weekend in the Holmesglen U19 Premier Women’s, kicking 5 goals in just her second ever VAFA game!
What the club said:
Luca Trevaskis is in her first season at CYMS and her debut year in senior football after joining the club from Williamstown Juniors. Just 16 years old, Luca has already played 51 games across her young career and has been immersed in football from an early age.
This season marked Luca’s return to full fitness after suffering a serious leg break that ruled her out of most of last year. Despite the injury occurring in the first practice match of the 2025 season, Luxa never stepped away from the team. She attended every training session and game, taking on roles such as coaching, running the interchange, and recording statistics, while continuing to be a valued and trusted presence within the squad.
Her commitment and love for the game are clear in everything she does. Luxa made an immediate impact once back on the field, scoring an impressive seven goals in her first two games at CYMS. She is the definition of a team‑first player and is already showing strong potential to lead, both in performance and character, well beyond her years.
Coach quote
“It’s a genuine privilege to coach Luca. The adversity she’s faced as a junior – including multiple broken arms and legs – and her ability to come back stronger each time speaks volumes about her resilience and character. Luca has all the qualities needed to continue her journey toward bigger and better things.” – Chris Karakiozakis, Senior Women’s Coach.
