Round 2 of the Division 4 Women’s season delivered a gripping top-of-the-table clash, with North Brunswick securing their first win of the year. Aquinas celebrated their first-ever Division 4 victory, while Melbourne University also collected four points via forfeit.
North Brunswick 4.8 (32) def Glen Eira/Old McKinnon 2.5 (17)
North Brunswick opened their 2026 account with a hard-fought 15-point win over Glen Eira/Old McKinnon at Packer Park.
Chloe Hoskinson set the tone early, booting two quick goals to give the home side strong momentum. Glen Eira/Old McKinnon responded late in the opening term with two goals of their own, cutting the margin to 15 points at quarter time.
From there, the contest turned into a grind. North Brunswick lifted their intensity—particularly in the forward half—controlling territory and eventually securing the four points.
Delfi Estrada was influential with her speed and composure around the contest, while Mary Ntalianis worked tirelessly across the ground and provided a strong presence in attack. Hoskinson finished with two goals in a standout performance, and Izzy Brennan impressed in just her second game, adding a goal.
Coach Jake Barclay praised the team-first approach: “I think the game was won by us sticking to our plan and nullifying Glen Eira offensively the best we could.
“It was a genuine team effort, with every player having a moment that contributed to the outcome.
“We focused on clean end-to-end ball movement, which is a big goal for us as a group.”
Wattle Park 2.7 (19) def Ormond 1.6 (12)
Wattle Park edged out Ormond by seven points in a tightly contested clash at Bennettswood Reserve.
The home side made a strong start, kicking the only goal of the first half before Tabitha Sutharsan added another early in the third quarter. Ormond mounted a late challenge, with Isabella Gietzmann converting in the final term to keep the game alive, but Wattle Park held firm under pressure.
Head coach Mel Dell’Olio highlighted the contribution of several new faces: “We had four first gamers — two new to football, one from Liverpool, England, and one who kicked her first goal with her first kick.
“I also want to give a shoutout to the backline, which comprised players new to the role and stood tall throughout the match.”
Tabitha Sutharsan and Ava Crawford each kicked a goal for Wattle Park, while Gietzmann was Ormond’s sole goal scorer.
Ormond also saw strong contributions from Mikala Sykes, Sophie Coleman, Anita Krapivsky, Brydie Steinfort, Sarah Hedger, and Lani Hammam in a spirited performance.

Aquinas recorded their first Division 4 victory, defeating Canterbury by 15 points at Canterbury Sportsground.
Aquinas started strong with two first-quarter goals. Canterbury responded late in the second term through Georgia Bold, but Emily Box answered for Aquinas to give the visitors a 17-point lead at halftime.
Canterbury came out firing in the third quarter, setting up a tense final term. Box extended the margin early in the last, before Bold’s second goal brought Canterbury within striking distance. However, Aquinas held their nerve to secure the win.
Georgia Bold finished with two goals for Canterbury, while Keira Jebb and Olivia Feutrill each added one.
Emily Box starred for Aquinas with three goals, supported by Asher De Klijn and Chelsea Delbridge, who each contributed one.
Aquinas head coach Phil Box was pleased with his side’s effort: “It was an even, hard-fought, goal-for-goal game with the match up for grabs until the final minutes,” he said.
“We felt privileged to play on ANZAC Day against a great club and fantastic group of women. I was really pleased with the even spread of contributions across the team. Our new players — Brianna Fitzmaurice, Emma Fabre and Meg O’Brien — were especially impressive in their first year of football.”
