The VAFA launched its Coaching Masterclass on Sunday 19 April, delivering a unique high-performance learning experience to 12 coaches during the Melbourne v Brisbane AFL match at the MCG.
Lead by Darren Flanigan, VAFA Club and Community Support Manager, and in collaboration with Old Trinity Football Club senior coach Donald McDonald, the session offered a group of coaches the opportunity to watch and analyse an AFL match live from a super box, providing a real-time professional development opportunity to coach.
Designed to be highly practical, the session focused on observing and analysing key facets of the game. Each coach was allocated a specific line or group of players and tasked with reporting insights across three critical phases: stoppages, offensive transition, and defensive transition. This structure encouraged active engagement, critical thinking, and peer learning among participants.
Two spots remain for the next session is scheduled for 17 May for the Essendon v Fremantle game. Book your spot here.
