CLUBS EMBRACE TACKLE YOUR FEELINGS ROUND
Clubs came together in Round 3 to support mental health awareness through Tackle Your Feelings Round. The important initiative continues to play a key role in changing the conversation around mental health in community sport, helping to normalise these discussions across all levels of the game.
The Tackle Your Feelings Program is a free mental health training initiative, designed specifically for community football clubs, that equips players, coaches, committee members, and support staff with the practical tools to Understand, Recognise, and Respond to signs of mental ill-health. Sessions are facilitated by local psychologists and are built on education developed for the AFL industry.
To mark the day, Tackle Your Feelings Best on Ground Medals were awarded to clubs that have either completed or committed to a TYF session in 2026. This year, medals were presented post-game by coaches to a standout player from the opposing team; promoting connection, mutual respect, and sportsmanship.
Special recognition goes to Whitefriars, UHS-VU, University Blues, West Brunswick, Hawthorn, and MCC Football Club for going above and beyond during the TYF Round. These clubs have not only engaged with the program or committed to upcoming sessions but have also demonstrated strong leadership in reinforcing that mental health and player wellbeing are genuine priorities within their communities.
Clubs who would like to be involved in future sessions should complete the Registration Form or email Pranav Menon for more information.
