VAFA Clubs unite for BCNA Round on May 9-10
The Victorian Amateur Football Association is proud to once again celebrate its strong connection with Breast Cancer Network Australia through the upcoming BCNA Themed Round on May 9 – 10.
Each year, clubs across the VAFA community rally together to support an important cause, raising awareness and funds through PLAY4BCNA Pink Sports Day. The continued support shown by VAFA clubs has been outstanding, highlighting the strength, compassion and community spirit that exists throughout grassroots football.
In 2025, it is estimated that a person had a 1 in 16 (or 6.2%) risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer by the age of 85 (1 in 833 or 0.1% for males and 1 in 8 or 12% for females). A breast cancer diagnosis changes lives instantly and its impact reaches far beyond the individual, affecting families, workplaces, sporting clubs and entire communities.
The VAFA encourages all clubs to once again get behind BCNA in 2026 and continue making a difference both on and off the field. Hosting a PLAY4BCNA Pink Sports Day is a fantastic way to show support, bring communities together and involve everyone whether participating on the field, volunteering behind the scenes or cheering from the sidelines.
These fundraising events also provide clubs with an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the important role women, who pose a significantly higher risk of being affected by breast cancer. play across grassroots sport, from players and coaches to volunteers, administrators and supporters.
The VAFA thanks all clubs that have supported the initiative in previous years and looks forward to seeing the competition unite once again for another meaningful BCNA Themed Round.
Any VAFA clubs wishing to be involved can register to host a Pink Sports Day here.
