Round 9 of the Holmesglen U19 Premier Men’s competition delivered one of the most dramatic weekends of the season, with four games decided by a combined margin of just seven
AJAX Football Club held their annual Holocaust Remembrance Commemoration gathering at Princes Park, Caulfield, last Sunday.
The occasion was hosted by Mel Raleigh from AJAX Junior Football Club and attended by 20 members of the Jewish community who had lived through and survived the Holocaust, as well as players, supporters and friends of AJAX Junior and Football Clubs and the AFL community. Several speakers outlined their direct connection to Holocaust survivors and their gratitude for the life that they are able to now enjoy thanks to their ancestor’s miraculous survival.
Several key football industry people in attendance included:
VAFA CEO Jason Reddick stated “whilst the occasion was a solemn reminder of the atrocities of the Holocaust, it was also a celebration of the connection to the family members who survived and the life they have provided for their families to now enjoy”.
