The VAFA congratulates Doug Kerr from St Kevin’s OB Football Club, who has been nominated as the Round 4 VAFA Men’s Rising Star.
Doug has made an impressive start to his senior career, kicking seven goals across his first two William Buck Premier Men’s matches.
What the club said:
Doug was Captain of Football at St Kevin’s College in 2024 and joined SKOBFC in 2025 as he split his time between Under 19’s, Oakleigh Chargers and Collingwood VFL.
After strong performances in the opening two rounds of Under 19 Premier, Doug made an impressive senior debut in Round 3 kicking 4 goals in the win against St Bernard’s. He then backed this up with a further 3 goals in the Round 4 win over Uni Blues.
It is great to see Doug’s hard work being recognised and we look forward to his strong marking and accurate kicking continuing for many years to come.
Coach Quote:
“Doug plays as a competitive forward who never gets out marked. His energy and work rate as a young player has been one of the of the key reasons we have bounced back the last two weeks. In his short time in the senior squad, Doug has quickly become a very popular member of the group.” – Anthony “Plugger” Lynch
