The VAFA congratulates Lily Nast from Old Geelong, who has been nominated as the Round 4 VAFA Women’s Rising Star.
Lily has made an impressive start to life at Old Geelong, quickly establishing herself in the midfield rotation after joining the club ahead of the 2026 season.
What the club said:
Lily Nast is a young Tasmanian who joined Old Geelong in 2026 with determination and enthusiasm. She’s a quiet achiever and an incredibly hard worker. First making a name for herself in Tasmania playing junior football with East Launceston, she starred there and played in numerous representative football competitions before playing a couple of seasons in the Coates League with the Devils in 2023/24. She actually took a break from footy in 2025 when she relocated to Melbourne for her studies.
Being dragged down to OGs early in pre-season, she’s hardly missed a session and has forced her way into the midfield rotation with clean hands and great ball distribution.
Coach Quote:
Lily is a young midfielder who can rotate to the flanks. Since her first session early on, she’s been fantastic around the club – attending most sessions, always asking for feedback on her game and looking to improve. She forced her way into the starting midfield group due to her clean hands, great ball use and sharp step in traffic. Most importantly, she’s really unselfish and will always look to give it to someone in a better position.
Making the Big V squad after just three games in the VAFA, we can only expect bigger things from this brilliant young player!
