The VAFA congratulates Steph Tredwell from Fitzroy Football Club, who has been nominated as the Round 5 VAFA Women’s Rising Star.
Steph made an immediate impact in her VAFA debut on the weekend in William Buck Premier Women’s, kicking four goals to help lead Fitzroy to victory over Old Geelong. Her standout performance has already earned her selection in the Big V Women’s squad.
What the club said:
Steph has joined Fitzroy Football Club via the Carlton VFLW team. The 19-year-old moved over from Adelaide, where she previously played for West Adelaide Football Club and Plympton Bulldogs Football Club. A versatile forward, Steph is capable of playing both as a tall target and in a smaller, more mobile role inside forward 50.
Coach Quote:
Steph played one of the best games I’ve seen from a Fitzroy Football Club player on the weekend. She was outstanding in her ability to get up the ground and act as a link between the backline and deep forwards, while also creating plenty of opportunities for both herself and her teammates when positioned closer to goal.
