“Some good defensive pressure from North Brunswick contributed to Albert Park only kicking 1.7 in the first quarter,” he said.

“On recommencement, we got some quick goals which was the difference before the game became more defensive for the rest of the match.

“Captain Emma Calvert kicked two goals on her birthday which was a highlight.”

“In the second half, we were able to generate more run, thanks to our superior fitness. We made structural changes forward of the ball and it really opened things up for us.

“Belinda De Blasio was a constant force in the forward 50 and was well supported by Annabelle Todd, whilst Steph Rogers have us first use at the stoppages. We welcomed Steph Smith back from injury and she was able to have immediate impact with her leg speed.”

The defensive desperation from Liliana Jaques and Emily Molnar between them racked up multiple massive smothers, with Emily Molnar (Shady) clutch in the final 90 seconds, sealing the win when it mattered most.

“We went in knowing Old Xavs were a fast side, so we did what we do best and played our physical branded game. Our scoreboard impact came early, with Cobie Farmer snapping two goals in the first quarter, giving us the start we needed and forcing Old Xavs to chase all afternoon.
