Both initial squads for the VAFA’s Big V clashes against the Goulburn Valley League have been named, setting the stage for a huge day of footy at Revo Fitness Park (Elsternwick Park) on Saturday, July 11.

MORE VAFA STALWARTS RECEIVE AUTRALIAN HONOURS

The VAFA is excited to share two more personal honours for community members Andrew Mullet (Old Brighton) and Leo Carney (Brunswick).

Andrew Mullett from Old Brighton (pictured below) received an OAM for Servies to Australian Rules Football, for his extensive dedication to the club who he has been with for more than 50 years. During that time, he has been a player, coach, team manager, committee member, VAFA delegate, property steward, timekeeper, archivist, club scribe, historian, statistician, and general custodian of all things Grammarians. Today, Andrew is known as ‘The Benchwarmer’, providing satirical accounts of the club’s weekly games.

Brunswick’s Leo Carney was awarded an AO for distinguished service to optometric and vision
sciences through research and clinical practice, to academia, and to tertiary education. Leo joined the club in 1965, playing in the 1965 D Grade Premiership, and went on to win multiple Firsts B&Fs, and played over 100 games.
