The VAFA congratulates Jazmine Holdsworth from Westbourne Grammarians, who has been nominated as the Round 8 VAFA Women’s Rising Star.
Jazmine has played all eight games this season in the William Buck Premier Women’s competition and has been named in the best players on four occasions.
What the club said:
Jazmine joined Westbourne for her first season after coming through the Murray Bushrangers U18 Girls program and Corowa Rutherglen. Relocating to Melbourne to further her football development, she has been balancing her time between Westbourne and the Port Melbourne VFLW program. An athletic and skilful player, she has spent most of her development playing across half back and on the wing. Over recent weeks, she has also been integrated into the midfield rotations, where she has really blossomed, producing strong performances against quality opposition in Fitzroy and Old Scotch.
What the coach said:
“Jazmine is a high-quality person from a great country family who is very coachable. She has an insatiable desire to improve and consistently seek feedback regarding the positives and work on within her game. It is always difficult for players participating in talent pathway programs such as Coates League or VFLW as there is generally a clash with training days. But Jasmine makes a concerted effort to be at Westbourne as much as she can to ensure she is also building strong relationships with her Westbourne . Overall her teammates love playing with her!”
