The VAFA congratulates Harry Dixon from Old Scotch Football Club, who has been nominated as the Round 8 VAFA Men’s Rising Star.
Harry was pivotal in Old Scotch’s win over Old Trinity in William Buck Premier Men’s on the weekend – collecting 19 disposals, 9 intercept possessions and 99 ranking points. He has featured in all eight games at the top level this season.
What the club said:
Harry joined the club in 2023 from Ashburton Redbacks in the YJFL and Camberwell High School, playing his first games with us while only 15. He was a member of our 2024 VAFA Premier U19s finals side and made his senior debut in 2025. He has also demonstrated real promise at the next levels of the game, representing the Oakleigh Chargers in 2024 and 2025. Last season, he finished ninth in the Chargers’ Best and Fairest count and won their best defensive player trophy. He tried out for the 2026 St Kilda VFL side and going by his performances this season higher honours may still be on the cards.
Harry is a versatile, athletic, tall running player., generally a defender or wingman, with aerial capacity either marking or defending, wonderful closing speed, and he is developing his game to become a growing attacking force with ball in hand.
