The VAFA congratulates Ibby Wotherspoon from Old Scotch Football Club, who has been nominated as the Round 9 VAFA Women’s Rising Star.
Ibby collected 17 disposals, 14 contested possessions and 7 tackles in Scotch Stars win over Fitzroy on the weekend.
What the club said:
Ibby joined OSFC in the 2025 season from Canterbury JFC and the Oakleigh Chargers (Talent League), playing a total of four games for the Club.
Ibby has played eight games this season and her game against a quality Fitzroy outfit was first class. All the coaching staff are in agreement that the Fitzroy game was a breakout game for the club.
What the coach said:
“In a short period of time Ibby has cemented a spot in this very good team. She has committed herself to our program, training hard and striving to improve her game. She is very coachable and brings the right attitude and effort week in week out. Ibby is a strong runner capable of stretching sides on the outside, but can also contribute in contest, something that she is working really hard at improving. The Fitzroy game last weekend was very physical and Ibby certainly stood up as a key contributor to one of our great wins this year. Ibby is a delight to coach having established herself as a player we can trust.” – Senior coach Dean Anderson
