The Pass Volunteer of the Month — May Winner  

Recognition awards in 2026 are back! The VAFA is proud to celebrate the outstanding contributions of volunteers who go above and beyond to support their clubs and embody the values of our community. Each month, we receive nominations that highlight inspiring stories of dedication, leadership, and impact and May was no exception. 

The Pass Volunteer of the Month for May is Tony Higgins from Old Yarra Cobras FC. 

Tony Higgins has spent over 15 years with the club undertaking multiple roles over the past 12 years. Tony was nominated by his club for their efforts, dedication and relentless work that they have been putting for the club. The club’s nomination for Tony is included below: 

“Tony Higgins is a selfless hard worker for the football club, often the first one there at training and gamedays, organising uniform and team sheets, officials, and just about every other thing involved with running the club. He is generous with his time and always has time for anyone needing anything, or even just a chat or favour. He has won our volunteer of the year award multiple times and from a committee standpoint he is the most reliable and hard-working volunteer we have. We would certainly be in a lot of trouble without him.”

We commend Tony’s contribution to his club and the wider VAFA community.
